UTTA LANGUAGE COURSE ACCREDITATION:
The UTTA teaching style is a specific and experiential style of teaching. In order to be accredited by UTTA, institutions have to demonstrate not only excellent organisational and administrative systems, but a commitment to this very dynamic teaching style.

To be accredited by UTTA, language courses need to exhibit a number of fundamental principles. For a full description of course styles which are likely to receive accreditation, please send for a brochure.

Briefly, UTTA courses and accredited courses must conform to the following general descriptors:

1. The course should be taught by a trained teaching professional (PGCE).
2. The course should be taught by a languages specialist of at least degree level.
3. The course should be designed to be taught in an immersive / active context.
4. The course should include strong elements of cultural assimilation.
5. The course should include dramatic and musical features as vehicles.
6. The course should incorporate routine testing and self-testing.
7. Role play should be an integral part of the course.
8. Numeric skills should be an integral part of the course.
9. Humour should be valued in the course material.
10. Course material should challenge students' cultural perceptions.

UTTA courses are generally provided at Beginner or Intermediate levels. They may also be used as a refresher for students who have Advanced literary, reading or writing skills, but who have speaking issues or have not used their English communicatively in the past, as a warm-up. Courses are especially suitable for Business use, for students who are likely to be working or residing in the target language country, and who would like to be confident in social and work situations

As well as accrediting courses, UTTA provides its own courses under licence, which may also be delivered subject to regular accreditation checks. Certification is an integral part of this course.

There are two courses, Beginner Level, and Intermediate Level in each language. Intermediate Level is aimed at students who have already spent some time in the target country and who have taken the Beginner course or an equivalent course already.
