This foundation certificate is validated and awarded by the University of Wales UK. It is also taught to UTTA guidelines.
For students with an interest in working in the music industry to broaden their musical horizons, record their own original sounds using cutting edge technology.

Also those interested in working behind the scenes.This course will equally suit aspiring and gigging musicians, those interested in production techniques and songwriters who wish to develop their interest further.Basic keyboard skills can also be taught to empower those without musical instrument skills.

Students will spend their time immersed in composing, practising, recording, production/engineering, filming and editing and will use the latest computer and studio technology to create their own demos and develop professional moving imagery with sound tracks on CD.

The course consists of 12 modules worth 10 credits each (level 3) as follows

Year One

  1. Technical Studio Recording
  2. Language of Music
  3. MIDI Sequencing and Devices
  4. Radio Journalism + Production
  5. Recording Studio Techniques

Year Two

  1. Multi Track Recording
  2. Audio Composition
  3. Sampling and Synthesis
  4. Moving Image
  5. Major Project (20 credits)

A module in Personal and Professional Development will be taught across both years.
Students will also be made aware of technological developments in an ever-evolving field.
Communication and study skills will also be included as part of the course.
