Utta teacher training
UTTA Teacher Training Courses offer opportunities for teachers to explore the learning situation from a student perspective and to reflect on their ways of learning and situations arising. Courses, which are single days, are in particular helpful in encouraging the review of teaching methodology and strategy. Each course is made up of an activity section and a review section in which teachers examine the issues arising. Coffee, tea and light refreshments are provided at the studio, but lunches and other refreshments are currently not a part of the course.

Working with E2L learners

Teachers can experience the immersive teaching style, learning how an E2L learner would approach a familiar subject in another language. This course helps teachers to understand how an E2L learner would approach a familiar subject in another language and prepares teachers for managing classrooms where students with English as a Second Language or English as a Foreign Language may be working either in a group or alongside native speakers. Spanish is often the language chosen, although French may also be used depending on the teacher training experience desired. During this activity, which would take place on the school premises, teachers may be involved in artwork, basic cookery or other subjects through the medium of the foreign language, to find out how this happens and what can be done to make it easier.
Working Creatively in Groups

We also offer a teacher training course in Music - this is to develop the skills of teachers in the group situation, finding out what it's like to work in a creative area in a group. The course involves the development and creation of a piece of music from start to finish, possibly a song or an advertising jingle. This takes place in a commercial studio and teachers learn the pros and cons of individuality versus team work, and how different people may approach the same task. The final tracks are recorded onto a CD.
Each course is individually designed and taught by a PGCE qualified teacher and teacher trainer.
With UTTA teacher training you benefit from the overview of a linguist, teacher and teacher trainer with experience in the both education and the music industry. Courses are designed to be fun and challenging, and aim to provide participants with as many questions as answers to take away and consider in their future teaching. They are also intended to place teachers firmly in the learner camp in order to gain valuable insights both in terms of skill and factual discovery, which they will take forward with them.
CELTA TRAINING
At UTTA, we are also currently moving towards CELTA Training Certification. This is a four week certificate which allows someone without QT status to teach in a variety of establishments, particularly overseas.
